Sketchy fun

I've got two cybercrops happening this weekend, keeping me really busy with chatting and challenges, and loving it! I've designed a sketch for each one.

Over at Crafting in Style, the theme for the weekend is "Girl Power", continuing our theme for the whole month of October.

This is my sketch and layout:

At Scrap Pile the cybercrop theme is "All About Me". The hostess this month is Belinda, and I'm just helping out a bit.

Here's my sketch and layout:

# Simon Says ~All that Sparkles
I used Kaisercraft rhinestone flourishes

# ABC Challenge ~ G ~ green

The butterflies were part of the gorgeous gift box from Aud. Thank you again xx

Halloween?

We don't celebrate Halloween here in Australia.  Well, not really.  Over the past few years stores and supermarkets have stocked all sorts of Halloween goodies during October, but I find it's all a bit of commercial overload.  More than anything it's just a theme for parties or events, but not something that's really 'observed'.   However... I think it's really interesting to blog-hop at this time of the year and see how "big" Halloween is elsewhere in the world, particularly in the US.  I've seen some amazing cards, layouts and decorations, and gleaned lots of  inspiration which I will file away for another time.

I had fun making a treat box this week:

# Design Dollies ~ Elements challenge ~ stripes
I used Rose Moka 'PiqueNique' patterned paper
# Create4Fun ~ Week 43 ~ frybox template
# Papertake Weekly ~ Spots 'n' Stripes

And even though I don't "do" Halloween, I LOVE the colour schemes with lots of green/black/orange/purple.

# The Cuttlebug Spot ~ Challenge #54 ~ 'Boo'
I used the Cuttlebug 'Swiss Dots' embossing folder, Bazzill cardstock, Basic Grey 'Eerie' patterned paper.

I want to say a HUGE thank you to Aud for your amazing blog-candy gift, which included the Basic Grey 'Eerie' 6x6 paper pad I used for this card.

You are so very generous and I'm looking forward to using more of your lovely goodies. Thank you :)

A couple of cards

Just a quick post today, sharing a few cards:

I made this one for Liz's card challenge at the Scrap Boutique cybercrop on the weekend:

And this one is for Karmyn's colour challenge at Design Dollies this week ~ using monochromatic browns:

More weekend scrapping

Just sharing some more layouts that I created over the weekend.  It feels great to be scrapping again.

The first one is based on a challenge at Moxie Fab World, using ruffles:

The next two are both based on cybercrop challenges over at Scrap Boutique.

For Em's sketch:

For Amanda's challenge:  One of the criteria was to use an 'everyday item' on the page. I had heaps of fun with this one, revisiting the napkin/Mod Podge technique to create the background, and cutting up a Gloria Jeans takeaway cup to create my embellishments.  This is how the cup started out:

Weekend scrapping

I'm slowly but surely feeling like myself again after a rough week with only snatches of creative time. This is what I've done so far this weekend:

First, a touch of speed scrapping with Chels over at the Scrap Boutique cybercrop. Not the best photo since it was taken at night to upload within a tight deadline, but it was a great way to kickstart my scrapping after a slow week! The criteria were ~ using the sketch, a splash of yellow, journalling about a timetable or routine, using the words day/daily in the title AND completing and uploading in an hour-and-a-quarter:

Then I finished a couple of blog challenges, some more 8x8 layouts for the daytripping album:

# Design Dollies ~ Colour challenge ~ black, purple, lime green
I used: Prima packaging, Heidi Swapp blossom, Green Tara roses, Rose Moka alphabet stickers, 7Gypsies journalling stamp

# Basic Grey Challenges ~ Week 6 Colour combo ~ red,blue,green
# Design Dollies ~ Sketch challenge
# Design Dollies ~ Elements challenge ~ patterned paper
I used: Patterned papers from Basic Grey (x4), Kaisercraft 'Flutterby' (x1), Making Memories alphabet stickers, Kaisercraft rhinestones

Playing with Prima

Over at Scrap Pile I've been playing with some Prima papers this month, and here are two of my layouts:

This and that

Not a lot of creating going on over the past few days... just very busy with work and non-creative pursuits. I do have a few projects on the go that I can't share yet, and lots of ideas just waiting for a bit of uninterrupted crafting time.

This is a card I did for Liz's card challenge over at Scrap Boutique.

This one is for a very special lady who's having a birthday tomorrow:

Girls' Night In - tonight

Over at Crafting in Style we're having a Girls' Night In to raise money for breast cancer research - and we have heaps of fun stuff happening.

Kicking off with a gorgeous sketch by Krissy... and here's my layout inspired by her sketch:

I prepared a speed scrap challenge - 90 minutes to scrap and upload to the gallery. This is my sketch and layout:

I couldn't resist adding some pink ribbon!

And I have to say a HUGE thank you to Carol for sending me your lovely blog candy ~ a 6x6 stack of assorted patterned papers which are all fabulous!

My Smiley Girl layout uses one of those sheets - they are the perfect size for cards and also for my 8x8 layouts. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Design Dollies, Week2

I've been playing along with the Design Dollies again.  I love the mix of challenges.

# Design Dollies - Colour Challenge - burgundy and peach
I used: Dream Street patterned paper, Spellbinders butterfly dies, Coredinations cardstock, Kaisercraft pearls, Twinkling H2Os and Carolee's Creations alpha stickers

And another 8x8 layout for our day-tripping album:

# Design Dollies - Elements Challenge - hand stitching
# Design Dollies - Sketch Challenge

Girls' Night In - are you coming?

Did you know that October is Breast Cancer Month?

Over Crafting in Style we're having a Girls' Night In event to raise money for breast cancer research.

I'm hosting a Speed Scrap, Krissy has created one of her fandabbydoosey sketches, Kerryn is holding an online classLaura is donating proceeds of her 'Adorable' Stylish class kit sales, and Lana is hosting games and a raffle with some fabulous pink prizes.

No layout shares just yet... those will come on Saturday night when the event is underway :)

I do have a quick card share though, just a simple one I made with some Basic Grey Wisteria pp that Lana sent me:

I made another looped ribbon flower, just loving these lately!  I'm entering this one over at Caardvarks for the ribbon challenge.

Scenic Route?

Over at Scrap Boutique the monthly challenge for October was set by Amanda: to create a layout with at least three photographs of your home town, and include the words 'scenic route'.

This is my layout ~ a few photographs from the 23rd September dust storms. I was in the city with my daughter that day and it was the most eerie feeling. We only had her little compact zoom camera with us that day, so the photographs aren't the best, but with all that dust around it's probably all for the best that I didn't have my nice camera with me!

I used some Scenic Route paper for good measure too. Very sad that the company is closing (some of my all-time favourite papers have come from Scenic Route ranges) but it was a good prompt to dig through my stash and use up some older papers.

More Scenic Route papers (Sonoma) in the next layout too. This one is for the inspiration challenge set by Manon:

I also used some Lil Davis alphas that Liz gave me for my birthday and some gorgeous green ribbons that Miss D had wrapped around my birthday parcel. Thank you xx

Bo Bunny creations

I am still enjoying my obsession with Bo Bunny papers.

This is a (rare) double layout that I did a few weeks ago while scrapping with Liz, Leone, Leah and Leonie. It's based on a Bo Bunny blog sketch, and uses papers from the Alissa range:

It's also my sample layout for the Scrap Pile October 'Simply Fresh' layout challenge.

And a card share too... based on a Bo Bunny card sketch for WCMD, and using My Darling papers:

Scrapping at the Pile

This month at Scrap Pile my design package included some 'Vintage Romance' papers from Black Market Paper Society.  I don't scrap much 'vintage' or 'romance' but I found them to be versatile enough for some other kinds of layouts:

I really liked using the Tim Holtz 'Liquid Pearls' and loved the effect:

I'm still working on layouts using the rest of my October kit, so much delicious product to play with!

In the meantime I'll just share a couple of cards that I've made over at Scrap Pile:

A cute one for Bel's WCMD challenge:

And a tiny one for Melanie's cybercrop challenge:

Playing with Dollies

I'm playing along at Design Dollies - a new challenge blog that launched this month. This is my first entry:

# Design Dollies - Colour challenge #1 - black, white, royal blue
# Design Dollies - Elements challenge #1 - bling
Three different kinds of bling - Thickers 'Sprinkles' glitter alphabets, Kaisercraft rhinestones, and two different bling flowers I found in my stash.

Just because...

I spend a lot of time hanging out over at Scrap Boutique, so I was excited to be featured as October 'Scrapper of the Month'. The timing is cool too, because October is my birthday month.

I had a hard time with some of the questions, especially being asked about my favourites... I always feel like such a little kid when I can't choose!! I'm indecisive, fickle and my tastes are just way too eclectic to choose a favourite anything. Could also be those Libran traits surfacing :)

This is the layout I chose to share, and it's a "just because" layout. No challenge, no DT project, no deadline, no product requirements, just a layout that I had fun with to relax one weekend:

Some more cards for WCMD

At Simon Says Challenges there's a WCMD challenge to make a 'girly' card. Here's my card:

This one is airmailing its way to Paige, a young teen who has recently had her arm partially amputated in a boating accident. Full details can be found here.

This one is for Leanne's card tutorial over at Scrap Pile:

And I used up the leftovers to make a tag card for Manon's card challenge at Scrap Boutique:

World Card Making Day

As a 'novice' cardmaker I am so excited to be involved in World Cardmaking Day celebrations. It kind of makes me feel like I am becoming a cardmarker and not just pretending anymore.

I'm working today but still hope to find some time to create a few cards, my tiny contribution to making the world a smaller and more friendly place to be :)

Here's what I've been doing so far:

Over at Scrap Pile we are having a WCMD challenge day today.  I'm hosting a challenge and even presenting a tutorial, which is a huge step for me!! Check it out here.   They say the best way to progress is to learn, practise, and then teach somebody else!   Here's my card:

I'm also entering this card in:
# Simon Says ~ Colour combo ~ green and red

Over at Scrap Boutique, I'm joining in some more WCMD challenges:
